Student Presidents’ Welcome

Hello!

Hello!

Welcome to The Rushcliffe Spencer Academy. We are Sam and Iman and we’re the student presidents for the 2026-27 academic year at Rushcliffe Sixth Form.

As your student presidents, our role requires us to represent the Sixth Form, support in the organisation and delivery of events such as open days, listen to students views on things and generally support whenever possible. So, whether you need someone to talk to, have an idea as to how to make things better, or need some help in any way, just pop and see us at any time. For example, we know the transition from GCSE to Level 3 courses can be challenging, so rest assured there is a team of willing helpers and student tutors, who have already successfully made that transition, to support you both academically and with general Sixth Form life.

In addition to the 31 different subjects available for you to choose from, there are also a vast number of additional opportunities offered to you at Rushcliffe. Not only will these enhance your CV / personal statements, but also expand your skill sets and maintain a healthy work-life balance within your school week. Sam was a sports leader in Y12. “ It involved me helping organise charity sporting events and helping out at volleyball club every week.” Iman took part in debate-related activities which helped to enrich her public speaking and confidence- culminating in a passionate live debate in assembly. Also the school offers the EPQ, this is a well-respected additional qualification allowing you to research a topic of your choice and eventually complete a 5000-word essay and presentation on it. If this is not for you, there are other options including DofE, Mandarin and Mindfulness, many of these will also be available again for you to choose from in September 2026.

Furthermore, within the Sixth Form you are granted greater autonomy around your learning compared to main school, and there are further leadership and community-based opportunities you can become involved with, e.g. subject ambassadors, lower school mentors and the ability to show some initiative and run your own clubs and societies.

The Sixth Form team take pride in creating a close-knit supportive community, with the reduced number of students per year compared to lower school it’s easier to get to know everyone and build friendships.

Thank you for taking the time to read our introduction to Sixth Form life and we look forward to seeing you in our growing Sixth Form. Finally, if you have any questions before choosing to study at Rushcliffe, give us a shout!

Wishing you all the best, Sam and Iman
