Careers Festival Day is our biggest Careers event of the year, with the whole school off timetable for a day of nothing but Careers & Employability learning. Each year group has their own individually curated schedule that targets Careers Learning that is suitable for their age & level of employability learning.
Year 7 took part in the Tyre Challenge- Learning about sustainability & product development, building on their teamwork, creativity & organisational skills.
Year 8 took part in the Chocolate Challenge- Learning about Business, Retail & Marketing, building on their speaking, listening & problem solving skills.
Year 9 were introduced to the GCSE options process- Looking through our school prospectus, learning about GCSE’s, future choices & received talks from visitors.
Year 10 were ‘looking forward’- Introduction to post-16 information, career skills, the world of work & received talks from visitors.
Year 11 focused on Post-16 pathways- Application tips, Interview Skills, UniFrog sessions & talks from visitors.
Year 12 trip- Our Year 12’s attended the UK University & Apprenticeship Search Fair in Leicestershire, attending seminars, workshops & talking to real professionals.
Year 13 focused on Post-18 pathways- UCAS, CV’s, mini Careers Appointments & workshops and talks with visitors.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Nottingham College, Bilborough College, Department for Work & Pensions, Doughnotts, Carrie-Anne Howe from Idemia, Ideas4Careers, the Notts Forest/Think Big/Ideagen collab team, Julian Kelly from ‘Banged up’ and the University of Notts for joining us for our first Careers event of the year. Your talks, assemblies & workshops brought together a very busy day & made this event very special.
